the flow of energy through a system acts to organize that system
Harold J. Morowitz
Compositions or pilgrimages? Memories or nothings? The imitation of objects or people, a real ritual soup. Bé Mặn Mimih was performed within a wide margin of error by Erkembode, Josh Alexander and David Lazonby. Like 3 traumatised astronauts returning from Solaris, each carrying their own Mimoid, formations thrown up by an ocean. The plan was to construct a mountainscape out of receipts over 2 days in a 17th century barn by the river Aire. Roger & Hammerstein here am I, your special island and its place the scientific landscape, lost in the middle of a foggy sea here am I, your special island come to me, come to me.

1.) A drone like sound opens the proceedings, Gregorian chanting? the projector is turned on. The first Mimoid, the ocean copies things. Mimih collapse and fold time, projecting on to the wall of a 17th century barn in Kirkstall, Leeds. Metal wash bowls get filled with water. The 3 astronauts wash their faces - hands - wrists. Receipt mimih are placed in the water as if lily pads. They are hung out to dry on a wire clothes rack. The contents of receipts are discussed on an alter. Alter boys.
2.) The first change in Mimoid. The soundscape develops and we begin building mountains in response to the sounds. The Barn's energy is a stone tape.
3.) The Mimih leave The Barn along the Leeds-Liverpool canal to a water cascade via Kirkstal electricity substation and the Gouranga Alien graffiti. We recorded electricity and water using Erkembode's dictaphone. There and back again.
4.) Wire mimih bodies. A failed attempt at saying something. Bali Ha'i. What was there to say. The wire becomes more mountain. Are we building mountains or a spaceship?
5.) Receipt mimih projections. Floating mimih. Frantic mimih. Shopping mimih. The mountainscape continues to develop, collapse, develop, collapse.
6.) Foil blankets. Dance. Emptying of water bowls. A mountain of receipts, a mountain of mimih. The rest is a blur.
